Yes, you will need a referral to see Specialists and Allied Health professionals at our Centre. By medical law, such a referral is a prerequisite for a consultation.
During your first visit, you will undergo an initial assessment where we’ll gather detailed information about your medical history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. Based on this information, we will create a tailored treatment plan. You may undergo a physical examination and certain non-invasive tests. Your consultation would typically last between 20 to 40 minutes.
All our staff speak the English language and the majority speak Tamil. Depending on your language preference on arrival, please inform the Receptionist or the treating Doctor and we can arrange a translator for you. It would be best to inform the Receptionist at the time of making the appointment.
Specialists, Consultants and Allied Health Practitioners have their own billing structures. At the time of making your appointment, please check this information with the Receptionist. If you are bulk billed only, then you have nothing to pay. If you are mixed-billed (Excess charge (Plus) Medicare rebate), the total sum would be charged to you. (This is the Medicare Regulation.) You can pay this by EFTPOS / Credit Card or by Cash. Your Medicare rebate which you have paid us, would be automatically credited/reimbursed to your bank account, by Medicare. For this to efficiently happen, it is absolutely important that your bank account and other details with Medicare are accurately maintained.
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment, especially if you're seeing a Physiotherapist or other Allied health Professional. For certain treatments, you may be asked to change into a gown or shorts or expose certain parts of your body as requested by the treating consultant. If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, please feel free to raise your concerns with your treating consultant.
